The Thunder Mt Reroute trail was completed in May 2017. This trail is rated as: 10% Beginner, 40% Intermediate, 40% Advanced, 10% Expert. The trail is bidirectional, but is best ridden from east to west. The climbing sections (see elevation profile) are really steep and advanced riders will walk numerous times before reaching the higher elevation of the trail. Note that the elevation profile is backwards.

Unless you don't mind walking short steep sections this trail is not recommended for lesser skilled or lesser determined riders, Once you reach the higher elevations the trail is twisty in nature with numerous short up and down rocky sections crossing numerous drainages and rock formations. Once you reach the longer down sides of the trail the riding is pretty straight forward. There are some chunky rock sections, but nothing an advanced rider would have major difficulty riding.

Since the trail is newly constructed there are still some sections that possibly need some additional work (see the warning signage picture). Unlike any other trail that I know, of this trail was built to challenge advanced to expert riders who love to ride steep technical uphill trails. If you like to ride the Tempelton climb out of Oak Creek this trail will also test your climbing skills.
