Tio Juanito was the trail that was put in after the Air Force base reclamation of the southern portion of West Ridge took place. However, in recent years the leniency on riding the full West Ridge has returned, and while a sign still remains, no one pays much attention to it. That said, Tio is a really great downhill that cuts short West Ridge if you like, and dumps you back down to Otero for some awesome downhill or to get more climbing on Gnasty or Upper Otero. Tio has a couple of rock features that push it toward black. I would probably normally call this a hard blue, but there is one particular feature near the top that is quite difficult because of the setup either up or down.

More loose rocks than usual. Just something to keep an eye out.

The Air Force's leniency toward riding in the withdrawl area should not be publicized. It can change really quickly if they see a trail description publicizing it.
