Beginners should avoid this connector as it travels downhill and connects to an intermediate trail (Towering Pines). Unfortunately once you get to the bottom of the connector, beginners my find themselves in over their heads with Towering Pines and will desire to turn back and return to Essex Road. All that elevation you just lost you will now have to regain by climbing back up the steepish hill back to Essex Road.
