Uses a combination of shared trails, back roads, a farm track, and a forestry road to make for a varied and scenic ride with a decent climb in either direction. The route described at the Meeting of the Waters uses the narrow concrete path that skirts around the bank of the Waiwakaiho River. This has a set of steps and no guard rail so less confident riders would be better to walk. The Forestry Road is shared with horse traffic, and cyclists and pedestrians should always be aware and give way to horses.
