This section of Trail 89 crosses the Black Elk Wilderness Area. At this point in time it is illegal to ride any type of a bike on trails located in National Forest Wilderness Areas. The scenery is world class on this section of the Centennial Trail as it is in the heart of the Harney Range.

Access Info

Park at either Pine Pine Trail Head located about two miles west of Mt. Rushmore on the north side of SD-244 or at Iron Creek Trail Head located about 1/2 mile north of SD-87 on the Camp Remington Road.


No bikes are allowed on this section of trail as it crosses USFS Wilderness
