Trap Creek (627) Details
The Trap Creek Trail provides access to Marten Lake. Near Marten Lake, three other trails can be accessed. The Trap Creek trail is a singletrack trail that gets more difficult as you progress up the trail towards Marten Lake.
The trail passes through a lot of dead lodgepole pine trees so there may be a lot of deadfall unless recently cleared.
The scenery in this area is outstanding, especially as you progress up the trail.
You can make a nice loop by going up Trap Creek Trail, then down the Swamp Creek Trail (026) back to Highway 21.
The trail head is accessed via Road 199 which is just west of Blind Summit or about a mile east of the Vader Creek Picnic Area off of Highway 21, northwest of Stanley, Idaho.
This access road is not signed well and is easy to miss in the dense trees. Look for it on the south side of the highway.
You can park just off the highway or drive up the rough and narrow road another 8 tenths of a mile to a trailhead. You are probably better off just riding up the road to the singletrack on your bike.
