This is the first Mountain Bike Trail in the State Forest Reserves of Maui. Rehabilitated by the Maui Mountain Bike Club it is an old hunting trail that provided an opportunity for the MTB community of Maui to unite in the early 90's and volunteer to create a legal trail for bikes. It's seen a couple reworks over the years to try and improve the grade but still remains a steep demanding trail that rides well when the whole island is wet but is typically soft, dry and dusty. There are a few technical sections as well. Goats love this area and you may find yourself racing them on the downhill. Typically ridden counter clockwise, i.e. up and towards the east towards Upper Waiakoa to start, then fun downhill, and very steep grind and hike a bike back up.
