Wapiti starts at the top of lower Plumber’s Crack. Where the Crack hits a T, you will take the left. You start by climb up through a basin and cross a small gully. The trail direction then doubles back on a bit of a side hill and then wraps back around and descends into another gully with a nice bridge. At this point you meet up with Rock n’ Roll for about 50’ and then you will see Wapiti take off to the right. It now climbs up Desolation Basin.

The Basin is about a ¼ mile and it gets steep at the end as it gains Desolation Ridge. Now the descent begins. Don’t be fooled by the Desolation Ridge trail that heads straight down the ridge. You want to drop in to the right, about 100 yards down from the top of the climb. This next section wants you to go fast but it’s a bit off camber and requires you to pay attention and keep it in control. It will drop steeply into a gully and shoot you out the other side and over a little bridge. Now you can let it rip through a fun flowy section that will take you right back across Plumbers Crack and onto the Radar Love section of Wapiti. After a little decent there is an easy climb to a ridge were you will cross an unnamed game trail and continue straight into another fast flowy section that will seamlessly, and at high speed, join up with the lower part of Herfendoodle. You can exit the trail network via Bang Zoom to Zip n’ Out or Cactus Cut Off to Zip n’ Out.
