West Mancos Trail is divided into three distinct sections: The upper section starting from the Sharktooth trailhead is Non-Motorized until it junctions with the North Fork trail. The middle section between North Fork Trail and Owen's Basin Connector is OPEN to Moto. The lower section from Owen's Basin to Transfer campground returns back to Non-Motorized.

** There are TWO water crossings that can be a Hazard to cross in the early season due to snowmelt. **

The lower section has received significant work but is still a technical pedal either direction, and is also known for having several trees down on the trail each year. Some may consider the lower section a "hiking" trail. The middle "Moto" section is typically clear of trees all year, and rides like a DH trail. The upper section usually isn't rideable until mid summer due to snow pack, but once it's rideable, it is some of the best single track around.

Most people end up in Durango to ride, but Mancos has riding worth the trip. A true southwest gem.

Incredible trail. Prone to having downed trees it appears (which is the case now). Last couple miles or so are not great. Very rocky. I’m sure better riders would have a much easier time than me exiting but if you’re kinda average it’s gonna suck.
