Yeager Mesa Details
Very steep mostly dirt trail. Some of the time, there are steep switch backs with roots on them. And some of time of the time, the trail just goes straight down and then has a sharp turn at the bottom. There is one very steep and technical rock garden which is about 40-50 yds long. Called Yeager Mesa because about three quarters of the way down, the trail comes out to a mesa which is pretty cool and then goes back into the trees.
This trail is relatively hard to get to and also hard to find. Take Los Pinos and at the top of the second major hike-a-bike just before a pile of rocks with a geological survey marker, there will be a right hand turn down bell ridge. Take bell ridge for a while and eventually you will get to the top of a short hike-a-bike. Yeager will go off to the right into the trees. It can be hard to find, so on the hike sections, be on the lookout for the trail on the right. It will end at trabuco creek road, which you can take to the holy jim parking lot.
