Tonnes of snow the week prior to the race resulted in less than ideal conditions. Despite pack grooming the course quickly deteriorated with cold temperatures turning snow into sugar.
Despite that, racers pushed hard to complete their laps before the long lap times forced early cutoffs. Compared to the 2017 event, each category completed half as many laps.
Great turnout overall with about 40 racers from all over Alberta. Many prizes from generous doners and few participants went home empty handed. Look forward to better conditions and more hardcore racing in 2019!
