CNW Electrical Curtis Island Social Trail Ride 2025
Group Ride Details:

Hosted by Gladstone MTB Inc, in conjunction with Gladstone Road Runners
Proudly supported by CNW Electrical Gladstone.

Bring the whole family or come with a group of mates for an awesome day out of trail riding through the natural beauty of Curtis Island National Park.

· All registered riders are in the running to *WIN* in a random prize draw. Thank you to Hub Fitness, IMMY Yoga, Slow Lane Cafe, ASN Gladstone, Vet at Home Gladstone and Ride 4 Lives.

· Sit back and enjoy live music from Carly not Kylie after the ride.

· MTB Skiils area for kids

· Burgers and refreshments available from Capricorn Lodge. Pre-purchase your burgers when registering to avoid disappointment.

Skill Level:

This is a social event and requires a low to moderate level of MTB riding skill. Each rider must be aware of their own limitations when selecting which trail to ride.

Before you leave:

· Check your bike and helmet are in good condition.

· To help protect against introducing weeds into the National Park, QPWS require all bikes, equipment, items of clothing (including footwear) to be cleaned before entering the park.

· The ferry ride can get a bit chilly at this time of year. You might want to pack in something warm to wear as well.

Supplies:

· You will be riding in a remote area, with limited access to food and water. Make sure you are prepared by bringing enough water for a few hours. We highly recommend something like a camelback. A drink bottle will not be enough.

· You will need to bring your own snacks for the ride. Consider limiting the amount of single use packaging to reduce the rubbish you need to carry out.

· Bring your own sunscreen and insect repellent.

Ferry Transfers:

Departure: Ferry departs from 222 Alf O’Rourke Drive, Gladstone Marina. Plan on arriving at 7:00am for final boarding at 7:45am. You must check in with a GMTB marshal before boarding the ferry.

Return: Ferry departs from South End Jetty. This ferry will likely be very full, so plan on arriving at 2:45pm for final boarding at 3:15pm.

Riders Briefing:

When arriving at South End, riders make their way around to the Capricorn Lodge for a course safety briefing.

We will then break into three groups for each trail course.

Protective Equipment:

All riders must wear an Australian Standard bike helmet.

First Aid:

A trained first aider will be in attendance with a basic first aid kit. Defibrillators will be available.

Course:

There are three courses throughout the Curtis Island National Park

20km (easy)

30km (easy)

50km (intermediate)

We recommend saving your chosen course to your phone for reference while riding.

Duration:

All riders must plan to return back to Capricorn Lodge no later than 1:30pm. You will be required to cut your ride short and return via the shortest marked path if your group is aware they may arrive late. The ferry will not wait for you.

Insurance:

· Queensland National Parks requires all event riders to be insured.

· If you’re a current, paid member of AusCycling (level Lifestyle and above) – no worries. You’re covered.

· If not, an event Lifestyle Licence will cover you. It is available when registering. More information about available AusCycling membership options, visit https://auscycling.org.au/become-a-member.

· Please note the 4-week trial membership does not waive the Lifestyle Licence fee.
