New Zealand’s premier Cross Country Marathon event – a true XCM in NZ’s most iconic big mountain high country. Part of The Ground Effect "James" MTB Classic, the Epic race is a True Epic with 100 km of pure off-road, 4x4 tracks and historic stock tracks running through some Epic St James Station landscapes, in the Southern Alps behind the alpine adventure town of Hanmer Springs. The Epic course pretty much has it all - whatever claims other courses make, we recon you'll find it somewhere along the Epic Landscapes/scenery, river crossings, big climbs, massive downhills, single track/dual single track, technical sections, high country lakes, beech forest & big high country braided river flats and something you won’t experience anywhere else - riding UNDER Matagouri - yes it is that big!
