Prickly Pear Land Trust has released the 2015 edition of its South Hills Trail Map. This comprehensive guide to Helena’s hiking and biking trails maps the entire South Hills trail system as well as trails near Montana City. A key defines dirt/gravel trails and asphalt trails as well as low-traffic roads and bike routes and lanes. As in previous editions, new trails, old favorites, and trail descriptions are included. New features in this version include QR codes that will link smart phone users to more extensive trail information. This edition also features a wildflower and weed identification guide–with full-color pictures–and a list of “The Best of the South Hills Trails,” an insider’s guide from the PPLT Trails Committee.
GPS expert Jerry Daumiller created the map and PPLT’s Trails Committee developed the map content. Bruce Capdeville at Real World Design created the graphics and GIS. The graphic design and trail mapping were generously funded by the Upper Missouri Resources Advisory Council.
Maps are available for $8 at the following Helena retailers:

Big Sky Cycling & Fitness
Capital Sports & Western Wear

They’re also available at the PPLT office at 46 N. Last Chance Gulch, Suite 2A.
