Description:
Road this trail today. Trail Forks says it's open to Mountain bikes. But it is not! The trail is still pending. They're writing tickets if you get caught. I did not but the old crazy guy is still out there yelling at people. Guy at the gate entrance said ranger was hiding up there last week writing tickets. Signs are still up stating no bikes. Ride at your own risk!

I had another run-in with the eccentric older guy today. We thought the trail was open, especially since a lot of sections have been widened, but apparently, it’s still not officially accessible. Seems like he’s pretty frustrated about the whole situation. He was hurling all kinds of nasty insults. It might be funny if it weren’t so sad. If I made a mistake and end up with a ticket, I can handle that—that’s on me. But this guy seems like he could use some serious help.

Here is the status page for the trail changes.

The State Parks have approved a plan for legalization of the trail for cyclists. If you aren’t already engaged check out www.FATRAC.org there will soon be an outreach drive to help drive through some hangups at the Bureau of Reclamation that must do final sign-offs for environmental impact that have been stalled for two years. It is a great time to get involved with FATRAC that is the local trail stewardship organization responsible for most advocacy, building and maintenance of trails in the region.
