Mission Statement
The mission of the Pacific Crest Trail Association is to protect, preserve and promote the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail as a world-class experience for hikers and equestrians, and for all the values provided by wild and scenic lands.

PCTA has a vision for the future of the Pacific Crest Trail and a vision for the future of our organization.

Our vision includes:

The entire PCT corridor is permanently protected, well maintained and effectively managed. The trail is world renowned for offering a rare opportunity to travel through exceptionally scenic, remote, primitive landscapes.
The PCTA, widely recognized as the trail’s champion and steward, achieves its work through the strength of its partnerships, staff, volunteers, and the rest of the PCT community.

The Pacific Crest Trail Association is singularly focused on keeping the PCT open for generations to come. We are headquartered in Sacramento, Calif., and our staff—which includes regional representatives in Washington, Oregon and California—works with thousands of volunteers and donors to protect, preserve and promote one of the best trail experiences on Earth.

We are the eyes, ears and voice for the trail.

The entire length of the Pacific Crest Trail is open to riders and their horses.

A ride on the PCT makes lifetime memories and enhances that special relationship between horse and rider. However, it is not to be undertaken lightly. The PCT requires a special mix of experience, skill, research and careful preparation.
