 To start, the mechanics seem to know what they're doing. They do a good job on their bikes, and set me straight with good advice. But that's where the good things I have to say end. First of all, every time I go in, I get the feeling that I'm not welcome. Maybe partly because I'm a teenager, and we teenagers are known for doing dumb shit sometimes, but I always get dirty looks from the owner who sits in a corner, and doesn't get up to help me if I need something. One time, Someone was moving a few boxes across the narrow passageways in the over cluttered shop, and I didn't realize I was blocking his way. By the time I did move, the owner yelled at ME. I tried to apologize and explain it was a mistake, and I can take a tad bit of discipline, but that's no way to treat your customers. Second off, whenever I try to ask a question, I get an answer like it was a dumb question. Maybe my mechanic knowleage isn't as extensive as their's, but I shouldn't get treated like they're better than me because of it. Third, the shop is wayyyy over crowded with bikes. I understand it is a small store, but they have way too many bikes for people to walk around in it. Nothing peeves me more than snagging my shirt on grips, and that's all I do walking around in there. Wouldn't recommend going here if you're claustrophobic. In fact, I wouldn't recommend going here at all. Unfortunately, It's the only local bike shop in the area, so many people don't have very many options. I guarantee you the only reason people go to this shop is because there are not too many other options. I don't like to talk trash about a business that affiliates itself to the greatest sport in the world, but Derby bike shop is not a place I'd go to unless I ABSOLUTELY had to.
