Founded in 1976, the Simsbury Land Trust is a federally-recognized, not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization. Governed by a volunteer board of trustees elected by the membership, the SLT currently has over 700 member families.
Major Accomplishments:
Acquired 35 parcels of land, representing over 1100 acres of permanently protected land.
Currently have over 700 member families from Simsbury and surrounding areas.
Permanently protected three of the major farms in Simsbury.
Built the bog walk in West Simsbury, allowing a close up view of 40 acres of unique wetland without damaging the fragile surface vegetation.
Acquired a parcel on the eastern ridge, providing access to the Metacomet Trail via East Weatogue Street.
