Aston Hill Bike Park is a volunteer maintained Bike Park in partnership with the Forestry Commission and CTC.
There has been a huge effort by the volunteer committee to revamp the aging trails and modernise the area in the last two years. Adding wooden structures and using machines to develop the existing trail network and add new features that challenge all levels of rider. This has resulted in a surge of popularity, especially in the wake of the new critically acclaimed freeride trail 'Surface to Air' designed by new trail manager Matt Wakefield on his return from living in Whistler BC.
Aston Hill hosts its own very popular DH race series with National points up for grabs and the largest prize purse of any local event, as well as Enduro events.
Aston Hill currently boasts 3 full DH trails that are 1m30s long depending on ability, a jump orientated freeride trail, a 5 mile XC loop, an ageing 4x track, and a pump track.
> The Black Run is Aston Hill’s original downhill track. First built in the late ‘90s, it is still known as one of the most
challenging descents in the south of England, especially in the wet. Thanks to a series of ongoing trail updates including the a rock garden and some new jumps, the Black Run is as challenging as ever with its mix of steep rooted sections, switchbacks and chutes.
> Root Canal was designed and built for the Southern Downhill Championships in 2009, and is the current racer's favourite. Straight off from the start it means business with a big table -top, before entering a series of drops and fast loose corners. To get a good time you must carry speed on the progressively steeper sections as it goes down the track finally ends up at the infamous and super steep J turns before dropping into the finish. A true championship course!
> Surface to Air moves away from Aston Hill’s trademark steep, rooty, natural trails and adds variety to the Bike Park. The new flow trail introduces step-ups, gap jumps, and drops. The first all-weather track on the Hill; it takes contemporary freeride mountain biking and adds an Aston twist. Surface to Air is steep, fast and fun; getting air is the main dish on the menu, and it’s served red hot.
> The pump track, finished in 2013 is a great place to develop your skills regardless of your level, whether that is trying to get round the course without pedalling for the first time or trying to gap the features on the expert line, there's something for everyone.
> The 5 mile national level XC route is one of the toughest in the country. With its own downhill section, 'The Red Run'
and some new technical additions being developed this year, this offers a technical challenge for even the most hardy cross country warriors.
> Ricochet is the intermediate level Downhill trail, less steep than the others it features jumps and berms on the top half of the trail, before dropping into off camber roots and ledge sections. The volunteer committee and dig team has planned new developments for this trail from 2014 including new berms, jumps and drops. Watch this space!

Becoming a local at Aston Hill is like having a home away from home. Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got. Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot. Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can shred, our tables are all the same

In 2007 a team of crack trailbuilders were sentenced to a help an uncared for trail centre.
Still wanted by riders from all over the south, today it survives as a bike pike of great fortune in the Chiltern Hills.
If you have a downhill bike, if nowhere else can help you and if you can find it, maybe you can ride the A Hill.

This is the place that made my love of biking what it is today.
Ever since I came here for the first time, I fell in love with not just the place but the vibe and atmosphere of everything from the race scene to the people that ride here.
Aston Hill will always be a part of my life.
