In 2010 a group of off road cyclists got together and decided it was time for a cohesive and enjoyable off road trail in the Fargo Moorhead area. Hard work, weed whacking, log removal and lots of bug spray all led to a 2.5 mile singletrack trail at MB Johnson Park in Moorhead MN. Word spread and since it's completion in July of 2010, it has gained much attention from the local biking community as well as regular park visitors.

The response to this effort was overwhelmingly positive and has spurred numerous conversations to continue efforts to establish and promote the use of off road recreational trails for biking, hiking, and just getting out doors. Initially it was an underground movement, but after so many offers to help and eagerness by individuals to expand, it was evident an organization should be formed to unify individuals and create a cohesive game plan moving forward.

Numerous volunteers regularly work on and maintain the 3 major Fargo Moorhead area trail systems. These three systems are located at MB Johnson Park, Gooseberry & Horn Park, and Iwen Park. All efforts are 100% volunteer and donations go directly back into trail development and maintenance. In total these three systems have approximately 16 miles of trail.

As one of the founding members and current president I can't say enough about all of the good things the dedicated group of volunteers does to keep the trails going in the FM Area. Hug thanks to ALL of them and ALL of those who have donated to organization to keep operations and trails going. Zero dollars go to salaries...it's 100% volunteer across the board so donations are used directly for trail development, maintenance, or ancillary costs.

Big thanks to the officials in the cities of Moorhead and Fargo for allowing us to work with them!

Have fun!

The crew at FM Trailbuilders work throughout the year to give us all in the area somewhere to roll. Thank you for all the work and I hope to join up and be able to help in some way other than just picking up the trail while biking. Appreciate all you do and enjoy all of the trail work! Thank you! Hope the donation helps a little!

After moving to Fargo in spring of 2022, I was unsure of what I would do to have fun here in the FM area. I attended NDSU years prior and "knew" the region's topography was minimal.
Choosing to no longer race motocross as I had done my whole life, I looked into cycling and man was I glad to have found FMTB's trails.
They maximize every inch of elevation along the Red River and being it's right here in the metro makes access so easy. THANK YOU FMTB!
