The Lyttelton Mountain Bike Club has been started to promote riding inside the crater rim around Lyttelton, develop tracks, negotiate land access and to encourage the sport in general. You can read the long-winded version of the club constitution here.
We are currently actively developing tracks in Urumau Reserve, which is the hill above the Timeball, extending up and over to Sumner Road. Check out the current trail map here.
Club membership is only $20 per year, so if you want to support local riding, get involved in track development or just meet more local riders and attend our races and social events, you can sign up here, or contact us via [email protected].

LMBC does it's best to manage and improve the tracks in Urumau reserve. I'm biased since I'm actively promoting and all, but still
I'm also biased as I help build the trails but they are epic, always quiet and plenty of steep riding for intermediate to advanced riders. Also a few easier trails for the strong beginner (it can be quite steep in places)
