Description:
Rode this Saturday June 26 2021. Climbed via the fire road accessed near Shannon Campground Road. The trail is overgrown and in need of tread work in several places. For most it would be classified as an adventure ride. This could be a fun technical descent into Arcadia Trail once brushed, cleared of debris and tread work done to accommodate multi use. The ride from Heliograph back to Shannon Campground via Arcadia trail has a lot of over grown vegetation, as well, and also several down trees that need to be removed. So, looping Heliograph Trail this way technically works but not at the moment a ton of fun. Arcadia trail down from Heliograph, toward Arcadia campground, for the first two miles, has dozens of down trees and significant overgrowth of small Aspens in the trail head. Power tools cannot be used at this elevation until Mexican Spotted Owl nesting season ends Aug 31st. SDMB volunteer groups plan to clear this out Labor Day Weekend 2021.

Trail recently brushed out. No down trees. Needs some tread improvement which is typical given the steep nature of the trail. view
