Description:
Rode this trail by accident. Intended to ride Peskowesk Road but at the fork to choose between the two trails, I chose the one with the open gate and the sign with a bike and a green circle. So, I don't understand the statement about the trial being closed - oe would think the park would close the gate and/or post a less inviting if this were still true.
The trail is basically a doubletrack road. The first part is wide and gravel; after the gate it's still wide but variously gravel and then degrading to rutted, overgrown doubletrack for the last few km. It's all very rideable, although on th eovergrown doubletrak you probably want to ride the centre rather than in the ruts. Pretty steady uphill on the way out, which makes the ride back that much more fun. Beautiful scenery, and it takes you through quite a variety of ecosystems, including more lush cdeciduous forest and high-canopy confierous forest. Be sure to stop at portage B and take the very short side trail to view the lakes!
