Description:
Post heavy snow and very heavy rain and a week of melting temperatures, we now have frozen snow and packed trails for good riding for fat bikes. The drop in temperature has dried out the snow and frozen it with a nice solid crust. Despite the freeze there are sections of the trail with no snow and some running water. Kinda like riding on the morning freeze in March. Access from behind the Museum and stay off the XC ski trails which they are still grooming and trying to get back in shape. The snowshoe/ fat bike trails are slightly altered for the winter so that the trail only crosses the xc ski trails at 90degrees and does not follow them anywhere. Some frozen rough trail sections from walkers and deer but not too bad overall. If you know the trails. Take the Pink Snowshoe trail behind the Museum which runs into MTB trail #2,#3, connection to #5, Connection to #4, #6b,#7, Apple and Cherry Pie and Rush Delivery( have not been snowshoed but have a good crust with limited breaking through). At the end of #7 there is a new trail that runs down the thin ribbon of forest between the XCski trail and starts at a sign that says"Short Cut". It winds its was to #8a , then #8b, #9,#10 and then to #11. #11 is detoured to #3 near the bottom end so it doesn't use the XC ski area. Enjoy!
