Description:
SDMB Trail Work Report from May 12, 2023. String trimming was resumed at 1.25 miles up from Stockton Pass CG to the 2.2 mile mark. There is a very small section of grass left before you reach the oaks and the canopy stops the growth. Trail is the most welcoming it's been since spring 2021. Get out and use it! Stockton Pass CG is at 5500 ft and remains fairly comfortable even when temps are hot. Lot's of shade. Riding/Hiking Lower Shake is fairly exposed so you may want to ride early or late. Sunsets are spectacular on the West Side of the Pinaleños Mtns. Want to get involved with trail work? Message [email protected]

a few trees down and a little rough on the bottom from the recent rain. Super classic trail. plan for a long shuttle or out and back view

I didn't ride this trail, but ran into USFS rec officer 4/29/25 who said this trail is in pretty good shape right now. Have no info beyond that. view
