Description:
Rode trail from Shannon Campground on May 27th 2023. From the Shannon Campground to the Heliograph Trail Junction there are 10-15 down trees. Not great but most are easily to get around even with a bike. Due to Mexican spotted owl restrictions a chainsaw cannot be used until Sept 1st. Right at the Heliograph trail junction there is one large tree across Arcadia Trail where it starts to descend toward Arcadia CG. Beyon that there are maybe 3-5 down trees over the next 4 miles. The trail has a ton of very beatiful but tall ferns obscuring the tread. Be careful of what lies below. Some sections are brushy. Overall the trail is in good shape and a fun type adventure ride. Best it's been in years. SDMB is hoping to get pro crews on it fall 2023 to get down trees out and reestablish tread. Want to help with trail work? Reach out to SDMB at [email protected]. We will be holding trail work days in Mid July, mid August and Early Sept 2023. We always ride during trail weekends to keep it fun.
