Description:
SDMB Trail Work Report Aug 12 and 13th 2023. 9 Volunteers spent two days brushing and benching Turkey Flat Trail. There was also rock work done on a section of trail that is an large off camber slab. A rock armored retaining wall was built as a walk way of sorts to give hikers and bikers a more stable approach to getting up or down this section. Two rock areas remain which need to have steps dug into the tread to improve the current loose steep nature of those sections. This remaining work will likely happen in 2024 as we will shift our focus to Arcadia Trail in Sept 2023. Overall Turkey Flat is in it's best shape in years. Many narrow sections of trail were widened and brush cut back to avoid growing into the corridor after the monsoon. For those new to Turkey Flat Trail looking to access Ladybug with their Mountain Bike. Turkey Flat is .7 miles and about 300ft of gain. For an average rider it's about 50% bike 50% push. It's a mostly shaded beautiful trail. Much easier than any hike a bike section on Mt Lemmon. It'll be over before you know it and you'll be rockin' and rollin' on Ladybug down to Angle Orchard.
