Description:
Important information on work being performed at Fort Custer.

Starting now and for the foreseeable future, Federal agencies will be conducting mandated activities that will require periodic trail closures. These closures will be random and unscheduled. The work will include clearing access corridors to allow equipment to search for various underground materials from the days of military activity. Once found and depending on the type of materials, areas may be dug up to further identify the materials or remove them.

Unfortunately, riding will be impacted from time to time. Trail damage may also occur that could need repair to ensure rider safety.

Here’s the ask from SWMMBA and the DNR. Obey all temporary trail closures. Be courteous to the workers that may be encountered as they are only doing their jobs. Help us repair any damage to the trails during scheduled trail days.

We are working closely with the DNR and will post updates to inform trail users of the ongoing work and trail closures when we are informed in advance. Closures will try to be made between intersections to allow for rideable reroutes. The DNR has noted that this activity may continue for approximately two years.

Inconveniences are going to be inevitable. Please exercise patience during these mandated activities. Also, spread the word to fellow riders so more can be informed and hopefully minimizing negative feedback.

Thanks for understanding. More to come.......
