Oct 21, 2023 Hanging Lake Trail Report

B e a u t I f u l! It was a painters pallet of vibrant yellows, oranges, reds, and burgundy fall colors perfectly blended against the exposed rock and the deep blue sky! The yellow canopy of Aspens along with the fallen leaves underfoot made for a golden carpet which felt like you were hiking through a glowing golden tunnel. Although the terrain is rugged, rocky and steep, I was happy to use my hiking poles for balance, support and leverage. Only a small section of running water from Dead Horse Creek overflowed on to the trail making it a bit slippery.
