Description:
Clear and easy riding (not technical), although it is somewhat of a climb. You need to have a permit to ride on Hancock land. There is daily security roaming the roads and they will ask you for your permit — nice guys though. Bob and Izzy. Bob asked me for my permit, and I fortunately I had printed it out the day before and was carrying it. Afterwards we talked for about 15m. I asked him about mountain lions, said he hasn’t seen any in these parts for over 15y. Anyway, saw some bear scat near the top, and actually saw a bear crash out from the woods as I was bombing back down the road (about 100’ in front of me); he was trying to get away from me. Ran in front of me, same direction i was going, for about 20 seconds then veered off the other side of the road and into the woods. The road starts out as gravel and gradually transitions to primitive logging road the further up you go. It was nice and quiet. View of Enumclaw, Black Diamond, and the surrounding vicinity was nice. Even though it wasn’t single track it was still fun.
