Description:
Helio is tree free with a bit of seasonal grass and brush. Still holding up reailly well post Fall 2024's restoration. SDMB spent two days working on tread and rock armoring erosion prone sections. Awkward wheel stopping, derailleur eating sections have been made a bit more logical but left plenty challenging. If you're up for it Heliograph is one of the best trails to ride in the Mt Graham area and makes for a great short counterclockwise loop from Shannon campground via Heliograph fire road, Heliograph trail and Upper Arcadia trail.

Trail recently brushed out. No down trees. Needs some tread improvement which is typical given the steep nature of the trail. view

As of May 16th 2026 1 tree down. Otherwise trail in good shape. Vegetation will grown in quickly in burn scar areas. view
