Description:
Look Prairie is one of the most satisfying fire roads I've ever ridden. It climbs through an old growth redwood/doug fir forest and the trees are immense and beautiful. The pitch is so consistent it's crazy. Settling into a rhythm was so easy.

Peavine Ridge undulated above the Bull Creek valley to the south and Bear River to the north. It also was extremely satisfying. The route I took many years ago was to descent on Thornton Trail, but it was steep and sketchy so I thought I'd try out Pole Line instead. It was gravel and boring by comparison, but there was one nice viewing spot before it met up with Mattole Road.

Mattole Road along Bull Creek is incredible. It's those trees and the way the road curves between them. Gotta see it. Humboldt Redwoods State Park is worth the drive, and this particular area has incredible hiking too.

I did this ride aboard an ebike because my old and creaky knees won't let me do it the way I have in the past. Support ebikes!

So steep. Beginning is the steepest and most exposed, then you start to get a little bit more tree coverage. Should be rideable all the way to the... view
