I might be the only person to ride this loop in a very long time except for maybe the local SABA trail steward I conveniently ran into in the parking lot by the boat ramp.
“Not many people ride up here,” he said.
He was right. These trails haven’t been touched by more than a few sets of tires in years!
It was kinda fun to be so off the grid. But if I hadn’t run into Matt before the ride I prolly woulda been sketched-out. Nearby ‘town’ of Hanging Dog looks as appealing as it sounds.
This is an easy intermediate trail with no scary features or technical sections. Only counts as ‘Blue’ due to the current conditions which are… well… natural.Just enough mix of up and down to keep things lively.
It’s a decent quick hit just outside of Murphy, NC which is worth a visit.
