Description:
NOTICE: Please be aware that part one of the Musquodoboit rail trail resurfacing will begin this Monday, Nov. 18, for the next 2 weeks. The rail trail resurfacing project will happen in two parts, over time:
The first starting Monday will be on the northern 7 km of trail from the Gibraltar Rock parking lot south to Kelly Meadow Bridge.
Once work begins, this section of the trail and the parking area will be closed until the work is complete. There will be heavy equipment used and as such we ask people to avoid the closed section of the rail trail.
Note that access to the Gibraltar Rock Loop and the North Granite Ridge Trail will be CLOSED while this work is happening.
The other southern 7 km of rail trail from the Park Road entrance to Kelly Meadow Bridge and the picnic shelter at Norma's Place will be open and have access to all other wilderness trails, including the north end of the South Granite Ridge.
This project will help refresh the rail trail and help preserve its use for our community for years to come! Closing the northern section now will pay off in the end and we're excited to show you the results!
Many thanks to Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia Department of Community, Culture Tourism & Heritage and Trans Canada Trail for helping fund this needed work, and thanks for your patience while we continue to improve the Musquodoboit Trailways!
