Totally agree with there previous comment. Coming down the cardrona side is a nightmare. To step and loose to ride a lot of the top and then you hit them matagouri. Got shredded pulling my bike through patches of matagouri and briar. Loved it. Never want to do it again but it is nice to drive there cardrona road and know “I’ve been up there”

Definitely recommend it to do this from the Wanaka side up and back down the same way unless you want to carry your bike and bash through the bush... view

Started on Larches side. Definitely more of a hiking trail. Steep and muddy (little traction)... meant the ride down was a bit wild in some parts.... view
