Jul 27, 2025 Deception Butte Trail Report

Solid single black. Hike-a-bike at the beginning is atrocious. Lifting bike up and climbing to it type hiking. Views are average from the top. The descent is average. No mandatory drops. Hardest features are 1 spicy chute followed by a spicy roll towards the end. Exposure is typical Oakridge. Some corners are extremely tight, even for the area. Corners are the biggest exposure factor. Shale will make your bike float on some of the bench cuts, but speed is manageable. Eula has more challenging chutes, but the rock roll on Deception is pretty unique for sanctioned trails in the area. Trail has decent bike specific flow the entire way down, with occasional little berms. Worth the ride, but not if it's the only thing you're doing that day. Start your shuttle day on Deception, then go do Eula.
