High Desert NRT Trail Report - Dry - Apr 8, 2026

The trail appears to have seen significant work in the last year or two but despite that is only marginally better condition than my last report in 2023. There is somewhat of a bench cut now on the switchbacks leading up to the high point. In 2023 there was basically no tread at all. So walking the trail is somewhat easier now, however the mass wasting and blow outs still exist and in some cases are worse. Vegetation continues to grow in, and as the slopes stabilize the trail should start to take less damage from storms. It is marginally passable, but very sketchy in a few places especially if you are trying to get through with a bike. Hopefully the trail sees more work in the future.
