May 25, 2026 Ferry County Rail Trail Trail Report

Trail from Republic north to Curlew Lake (at least to the trestle at the north end of the lake) is clear. There are other ways to get to Curlew Lake, but we rode (20/21) to just past Republic High School, where we accessed the Golden Tiger Pathway (near Hesse Mountain Park). The Golden Tiger Pathway is paved (and very nice!) for a couple of miles--after that it's gravel. Relatively easy for MTB. This section is "shared use," but we didn't see any motos. Trail was well maintained. Just past the Ferry County Rail Trail Trailhead (W. Herron Cr. Rd.) you begin riding around Curlew Lake. Easy, scenic trail! The trail is apparently "closed" at this time after the trestle at least for some distance. So, it was about 12-mi. from "downtown" Republic to the north end of the lake.
