Two possibilities, either the trail was built on private property, or a home-owner over-stepped their bounds. Both have been known to happen, but the former is more likely.... and a quick check confirms that is precisely the case. The first four properties there go all the way down to the hydro right-of-way.

I saw the mess of trees they cut up yesterday and was wondering if the TCRA needs to be made aware. regardless this trail was always through private property and I always felt a little sketchy using it, although it was far better than the stairs or batcave.

@Cunningham14: I can confirm that the trail entrance was on private property. Given that the home-owner put up with us for several years I would advise against trying to get them in trouble with TRCA. We don't want to cause an escalating battle either

@stuvie: I wont, and it may not be the mtb crowd that upset them either, could be kids or others using that trail that they dont like. Maybe they just need a case of beer.

Looking at the property lines the City shows using the link the lines do go further down then one would think.

Can also click on the TRCA regulation limit to see their lines/limit. Which also can fine the property owner 100k for damaging protected trees/altering the land etc...
I always thought some owners just extended their properties lower into the valley just cause they could since noone would say anything but guess I was wrong.
