Description:
One tree down about 2kms from waiuta end but it's easy to push under it. Great adventure ride with interesting bush, streams, terrain and mining relics. Walked some of the river in the middle but rest of track is easy riding.
Waiuta end is fairly flat pack track but there's great fast descents (more grade 3 than 4) and boardwalk at the big river end (going either direction). Side trip up to big river mine winding station and poppet head are worth the wet shoes from the river crossing (pack spare socks) and it's a fun blast back down the rough 4wd track. Big River hut is excellent.
