Description:
Evergreen's Cowlitz-Naches chapter has been working on Russell Ridge East throughout the summer, and it is now running really well, especially from Wildcat Meadow (where FR 650 meets Russell Ridge) to the bottom. They've focused most of their summer 2026 work on this lower half of Russell Ridge East and the connectors to it.
The maintenance has uncovered some great flow sections on the middle and lower sections, and the descent down to Kitten Creek remains spicy rock-n-roll gnar.
The upper section (from the intersections with FR 1384 to FR 650) runs well, but it is in a more primitive "au naturel" backcountry condition.
