Description:
Conserving Carolina’s Bearwallow Mountain Trail is TEMPORARILY CLOSED (as of 1/17/2020) to protect it from damage during wet and freeze/thaw conditions. Hiking on it at this time will damage it. But good news! The summit of Bearwallow Mountain remains OPEN! Visitors/hikers may still walk the gravel road to the top of the peak until the trail reopens. It will re-open when trail conditions become less vulnerable to tread damage, usually in one to two weeks depending on weather. Hiking the gravel road to the summit counts as part of Hiking Challenge 5. Check back to see if this message has been removed and the closure has been lifted. Thank you and please help us take good care of this special place by walking up the gravel road instead!
