Short, but challenging hike at this historic quarry. If you hike when the water is flowing, you will be treated to the sound of a brisk little cascade all the way up to the trail junction. Along the way, you will see the remnants of quarry operations that dispatched stone as far away as Philadelphia.
The trail makes another steep turn up to the top of the ridge with winters views of the incomparable Lower Connecticut River. June hikers will enjoy the dense mountain laurel stands including section through a tunnel of laurels. The return trail at the base of the cliff faces will reveal drill marks after a sharp climb back up the hill. Take your time with the tricky footing in spots on the rocky jumble as the trail skirt a sheer rock wall.
