Wish I had read the previous comment. Don't ride up this unless you're in peak physical condition or like hiking steep hills with a bike

Super fast straight descent. Hardly used. Hot dry and dusty

Don’t try to ride this up from the bottom junction it’s too steep. You’ll hike a bike the bottom half.

Top part is really really rutted out and rocky. If you’re a beginner you’ll probably walk your bike quite a bit. Don’t let the fire road designation fool you.

The trail itself isn’t really hard, but a lot of sections are narrow and if you mess up, it’ll be a while before you stop down the fairly steep hillside. Not for the faint hearted. I don’t think it should be a blue honestly.

Trail JT Howell
Getting a little overgrown but very fun, definitely the trickiest (marked on Trailforks) trail in this area. Definitely check it out

Shoreline trail is for beginners. This is for advanced beginners or people who ride easy blue trails. A real blast though!

Steep sections and a lot of fist-sized loose rock all over the road. I went downhill, didn’t seem like a great uphill road.

Start is off a private road. Typical Marin County Fire Road.... Some very steep sections and loose dirt. If you’re in very good shape you might be able to pedal all the way.

Hacienda. This is a pretty aggressive climb. Be prepared for mostly uphill and keep your momentum.
