Fun loop to ride from BCC. Both directions are good choices but going up Desolation is steep.

The first mile is very steep and technical at times. You’ve got to choose perfect lines or you’ll be doing a few hike-a-bikes. You’ll be climbing on trails that are primarily used for downhill riding, so be careful for bikers bombing down Mill D and Desolation.
Very rowdy and technical descent at the top. Long segments of washboard trail conditions at the time of this review. Needed to stop a time or two to shake out the numbness in my hands from the constant rattling.
Summary: Lung-buster of a climb. But the descent and views make it worth it.
