Starting from the UCCS parking lot, you'll ride along a path until 0.5 miles then take a left on the doubletrack northbound. There is a parking lot and trailhead here that you'll ride through to start the first bit of singletrack on Lori Cohen Memorial Trail until mile 1.3. At this point, you'll take the right onto Pulpit Rock Lame Duck Connector.
As Anakin said "This is where the fun begins". The next couple of miles will be rough singletrack with lines that may not exist. Look for a left unto Rockhurst North Connector at mile 1.75 followed by a right onto Ring Around the Rim at mile 2.1. No turns until mile 2.75 then it's a quick section of jumps and drops on Loose Moose Downhill. Hang two left turns at the end to climb back up to the Rim Trail on your right at mile 3.1. Cross another neighborhood access trail at mile 3.3.
Stay high and to the left onto South Hill Connector at mile 3.75 towards South Hill for a left at mile 4. Look for a right turn for Angry Squirrel at mile 4.5 at an uphill switchback. After a short half-mile climb with an amazing view, you'll be rewarded with a longer downhill with tight turns and alternate armored lines. You'll return to Rockhurst Descent at mile 5.5, keep left and keep your speed up
Watch for a slight up hill left turn at mile 5.6 onto Flowy Squirrel. This trail is way less technical but will surprise you with off camber switchbacks near the end. Continue straight across the dirt road to a new connector back towards the original climb up Lori Cohen Memorial Trail.
Climbing up again, you'll continue past your first turn up to the left at mile 6.73. Finish the climb on a very prominent point at mile 7 and look for a left, downhill armored turn facing south to continue on Lori Cohen. After four steep downhill switchbacks, you'll merge up with Mr. Goates at mile 7.6. Stay high to the right.
Lori Cohen Memorial Trail continues downhill to the left at mile 7.75 and a sharp left switchback at mile 8. Enjoy testing your cornering skills for the next third of a mile to take a right onto the doubletrack House Hopper North and Mr. Goates for about a quarter of mile. Notice the end of Black Sheep on your right while you traverse around the bottom of Pulpit Rock.
A lot has changed in this part of the park. You'll see various trailwork and signs as you pedal. Look for a Pulpit Rock Sign and new trail going uphill on the right at mile 8.6. A quick intersection will come up at mile 8.7, take the right uphill following signs for access to Pulpit Rock. After about half a mile, you'll be at the bench that leads to Pulpit Rock proper. Looking south, Black Sheep's trailhead sign can be difficult to spot. It is not on the top of the saddle, but downhill almost directly the other side from which you ascended.
Take a breath, eat a snack, pick an easy gear, and drop that seat post. The next quarter mile has a couple quick steep hits in the beginning with a sustained, loose downhill with alternate lines. It'll be over before you know it and you'll spit out onto Mr. Goates. Hang a left to take the doubletrack back to the parking lot.
Don't miss the right turn back onto Lori Cohen Memorial at mile 9.6 for a last second singletrack with some fun, fast turns.
