The first 2 kms utilities an unused, gated sealed road (Quaids Rd) which takes the sting out of the climb - however the route can also be ridden as an in-and-out up the single track section. Expect a moderate climb though.
Once off Quaids road onto the single track, it becomes a fun flowing descent to a T-juction in the trail. Take a left here to head a moderately technical single track requiring some skill navigating tree routes and some rocky climbs through creek beds (flowing after rain).
Don't be disappointed when the trail suddenly ends at Hartleys Creek as a 5 min walk up the creek bed to the falls for a swim is most worthwhile. Its not uncommon to have the whole area to yourself, so enjoy the serenity.
Back on the bike and its a long flowing mostly downhill ride (passing the entry point from Quaids road) and all the way down to the highway. Head right back to the starting point.
