De omgeving kenmerkt zich als een echt Veluws bosgebied met veel naaldhout en enkele heidevelden. De route bestaat uit twee lussen. De noordelijke lus van 10,5 kilometer en de zuidelijke lus van 17,5 kilometer.
Het noordelijke deel van de route bevat enkele technische passages met onder andere de beklimming van de Trijselenberg. Ook de afdaling van de Trijselenberg is zeer de moeite waard.
De zuidelijke lus van de route is minder technisch. Beukenlanen en heidevelden wisselen elkaar hier af.
