Jun 22, 2026 @ 10:49pm (America/Denver) Jun 22, 2026 | This report is just from Grindstone to 145. Moto section between Gold Run and Grindstone in excellent shape. No sign of thistles in the meadows. Very brushy wherever the trail gets close to the creek - gaitors would be nice. | Very Dry | view
Jun 22, 2026 @ 10:34pm (America/Denver) Jun 22, 2026 | NFS Trail Crew and moto riders have cleared most of the downed trees. A couple small ones remain near the bottom. There is a hazard immediately down trail from the large aspen ramped for moto passage - another huge aspen is broken off across the trail and the trail now goes between it and a standing tree. At this constriction the width is quite narrow and wider MTB handlebars will likely not fit if you try to ride it. My 540mm bars from 2008 just barely fit! | Very Dry | view
Jun 4, 2026 @ 2:00pm (America/Denver) Jun 4, 2026 | One fresh large tree North of Salt Creek junction. | Ideal | view
Nov 23, 2025 @ 9:29am (America/Denver) Nov 23, 2025 | Snow covered for the season reporter | Snow Covered | view
Oct 10, 2025 @ 1:29pm (America/Denver) Oct 10, 2025 | Large pine tree still down and a pain to get around. Several more trees down as well, with some large rocks that have settled on the trail. | Ideal | view
Oct 10, 2025 @ 1:27pm (America/Denver) Oct 10, 2025 | A few more aspens down. One tree in pungee mode before you get to the high meadow - recommend check your speed until this is cut out. | Ideal | view
Sep 18, 2025 @ 3:23pm (America/Denver) Sep 18, 2025 | About 1 mile downstream of the Gold Run bridge there is a large pine tree that broke off across trail. Fairly difficult to get past due to trail on side slope and lots of dense branches. | Ideal | view
Sep 18, 2025 @ 3:21pm (America/Denver) Sep 18, 2025 | One giant aspen down across trail. Moto riders have ramped it on both sides so not hard to cross it. Grindstone doesn't seem to have as much water damage from recent rains as other Rico area trails. | Ideal | view
Jul 29, 2025 @ 6:19pm Jul 29, 2025 | All clear - trees are cut out. Trail is getting some riding from motos and is in great shape. | Ideal | view
Jun 20, 2025 @ 9:09pm Jun 20, 2025 | Approximately 30 trees down on Grindstone between the CT and Bear Creek trail | Dry | view
Jun 14, 2025 @ 7:50pm Jun 14, 2025 | Dry | view
Aug 7, 2024 @ 4:59pm Aug 7, 2024 | Trees all cut out. | Ideal | view
Jul 15, 2024 @ 9:55pm Jul 15, 2024 | Upper section from Sharkstooth to Grindstone has about 18 trees down. Some fairly large. The nice hiker/biker bridge over Bear Creek in this section is broken down (maybe for some time - see photo). Middle moto section from Grindstone to Gold Run is fantastic. Lower section has a few trees down (new in the last couple weeks) and the one medium boulder that landed on the trail. Need a couple big rock bars to get that boulder off - easy to ride over or around now though. | Ideal | view
Jun 23, 2024 @ 5:19pm Jun 23, 2024 | Now about 30-40 trees across the trail. Maybe 5 or so 18" or greater diameter. No snow in sight, but recent rains this past week mean the trail between Hillside Connector and the first huge meadow is pretty soggy. | Wet | view
Nov 11, 2023 @ 7:05pm Nov 11, 2023 | Trail is in great condition but about 10-20 trees are across the trail and need to be cleared | Dry | view
Oct 8, 2023 @ 4:46pm Oct 8, 2023 | Riding nice, about 7 aspens down. Easy to get around with a mtb. | Dry | view
Sep 3, 2023 @ 9:29pm Sep 3, 2023 | Dry | view
Sep 3, 2023 @ 9:24pm Sep 3, 2023 | Dry | view
Jul 7, 2023 @ 9:11am Jul 7, 2023 | hike I only did the north 7 miles as an out and back but the trail was perfect with no snow still on it. | Ideal | view
Oct 28, 2022 @ 6:55am Oct 28, 2022 | Snow covered until summer 2023 | Snow Covered | view

Aug 9, 2021 @ 2:44pm Aug 9, 2021 | Recent trailwork has been completed to fix drainage and the sketchy side hill near the top of the trail. Lots of thistle in the middle as usual this time of year. | Ideal | view
Jun 18, 2021 @ 1:34pm Jun 18, 2021 | Someone cut all the trees out! Go ride it before it gets overgrown with thistle. | Ideal | view
Jun 18, 2021 @ 8:22am Jun 18, 2021 | Trees cut out, couple snow patches. | Variable | view |
