Bakam Long Details
Don't be decieved by the short distance. Be prepared for a little suffering. Remember to bring lots of water and some snacks because you will need them on this one.
The trailhead is as the road side next to the kampung tamu (open market). Ride starts on tarmac road into the kampung (village) before reaching a small rubber platation. You'll soon come to a palm oil platation where you will meet be a few sets of small climbs.
This will lead to a one of the longest and toughest climb to the top known locally as bukit panas or 'hot hill'. Ride another 10 minutes from there to reach a wooden frame structured house for the 1st downhill section at the 9km mark. It's pretty much straight but watch out for rugs. Gets a bit loose at certain sections but not a problem for intermidate level riders. Following that is a few climbs before you reach the submit at the 15km mark.
From there, take a right and ride another 100 meters and arrive at the start the 2nd downhill section. It is a 2km descend which is a lot technical compared to the 1st one.
Take it easy if it is your first time on it as you will ride down a few natural rocky trail features that are sharp. You don't want to wipeout here! But for advance riders with strong technical skills, this is where you want to let off the brakes and try to earn yourself a spot on the strave leaderboard. At the time of this posting, the fastest time is 2.04 minutes.
Once you have reached the bottom, you will ride through a single track then back on the kampung road back to the trailhead.
Ride safe and have fun!
